Just as I thought the pre-season maintenance was going well, it emerges that the elderly manual water pump on my little Vivacity 650 has given up the ghost. Have any of you replaced one of these, and if so what did you use? I've found the following, but not sure they would fit:

whale flipper pump Mk4

Whale V pump Mk 6

Can't post links as last time the Admins tried to ban me for advertising!

Couple of years or so ago I replaced a leaky old Whale V pump ( I think it leaked from practically new) with the Mk 6 version

New version can at least be overhauled if necessary, the old one could not.

Whats the problem with links?

I think Whale are generally preferred due to quality and availability of spares so find whichever one of theirs fits the budget and/or the holes from the old one.

I may be being overly sensitive, but last time I replied to a post about computers giving a link to a manufacturer, the Admins tried to ban me for spamming the group! They did have the grace to admit their software had got it wrong....

Our boat came with a V pump Mk 5, which leaked through the gland on top from day 1. I replaced it with the same thing, which leaked in the same way. I bought a repair kit and fitted that. It leaked. I filled the gland with silicone sealant, which held the seal for about a week, then it leaked. I replaced the Mk 5 with a Mk 6, which leaked.

I have now fitted a General Ecology filter and put its dedicated outlet in the hole previously occupied by the Whale. No leaks.

If you have the space for it, maybe the Flipper would be a better bet.

Thanks. I am going to measure up next week or so, but the following photo of another Vivacity makes me hopeful the flipper may fit:
