Replacement table pedestal base for Windy 25

Hi all,

I'm pretty sure someone on here must have some knowledge in this area.

The table in the cockpit of my boat (windy 25) consists of 3 components, there the table top itself, the aluminium 'column' that supports the table , and the base that the aluminium column fits into. The base is permanently fixed to the deck, the column is slotted into the base and the table is slotted into the column. Its all removable to save space when not in use. I think its a pretty typical arrangement for a boat of this size.

The 'problem' is that the base is starting to look a little tatty, its a highly polished stainless looking item, that is fairly low profile (will dig out a photo when I'm in front of a computer with photos on it) , but its got a couple of dents in it from use over the years, so I'd like to replace it with a new one. I dont need the entire table assembly, just a new base for the existing column to slot into.

My Questions -

- does anyone know a supplier of these bases? it doesnt have to be identical, but something that is as flush to the floor as possible, and will take the existing column is required.
- How do I remove the existing base ? There are no screws visible on the 'deck' side of the base, but if I look underneath the deck I can see several (6/8) self tapping screws poking through , so its obviously screwed in place, but I cant see any way of getting to the screw heads to unscrew it, does anyone know how its mounted?

If I can remove the existing pedestal I may just be able to refurbish it , and not actually need to buy a replacement.


I guess I could call Windy, and I'm sure they'll be able to supply one, but I expect the cost would be eye watering.

Thanks Nick, from looking at the norsap website, it looks like its one of theirs.

It also looks like the base consists of the base itself and a stainless steel cover that clips over the top to cover the screws up. So I reckon I could get away with just buying a new cover if they sell one separately.

Now the next question is how to remove the clip on cover, I did have ago at just prising it off last time I was on the boat, but no success.

There's a drawing here of the Zwaardvis concealed fixings version, but it doesn't make it any clearer how the cover plate fixes to the base, so I don't think it'll help you much

Thanks Nick, I'm guessing I just need to lever the cover off, but how to do it without damaging either the cover itself or the teak deck .

Have you tried unscrewing the cover just in case it's threaded? A pair of rubber gloves may help to get a decent grip.

I did have a quick try at unscrewing the cover,but it wouldn't budge.

I have to say I didn't try very hard though,next timeI'm on the boat I will have a concerted effort at removing it.
