I am looking to replace my prop due to been chipped and one blade slightly bent, I cant read the number on it all. I can see a 14P I have looked on line and seen different pitches for the this suzuki. Any advice which prop to go for? (just bought this outboard) So not sure how the motor went with this prop.

thank you
Dave

The 14P indicates the pitch, the diameter for that on an origirnal prop was 11 3/8". The shaft is 13 spline.

To determine if this is right for your setup, the achieved rpm at full throttle and normal load must be known. Should be within the recommended range, 4800-5500 rpm and preferably closer to the upper limit.

Since you do not know how it performs or if it does indeed reach the rpm, the suggestion is to get an identical or have it fixed (commonly approx ½ price of new), then do proper testing.

If the prop works well but is off in rpm, the pitch should be altered. As a rule of thumb one inch lower pitch results in 200 higher rpm (and vice versa).
If the prop does reach the rpm range but suffers other problems (ventilation, loss of grip in turns etc.), a different prop design should be used.

If you need more rpm and/or would like better acceleration and top end for FREE, look for dead weight to remove from the boat and make sure the hull is clean.

In real life the Suzuki 2-strokes are becoming still more rare (for good reasons IMO) so the selection of props might be limited. Another reason for getting the old one fixed (btw pitch can be altered at the same time, if only you know what to change it to).
