What about FE36, Is that the same stuff as FM200?
Just had our extinguishers replaced. Independent fire engineer recommended we replace the old R236 in the engine bay with an FM200 as it is more widely accepted internationally!
Nobody using dry powder?
From Fireblitz.co.uk
"ABC Dry Powder Automatic fire Suppression Units commonly used to protect machinery/plant and where there is a risk of fire such as in boat/vehicle engine compartments."
I had them for many years on my previous boat, surveyor was happy and Insurance policy documents never specified anything.

Both my boat surveyor and Insurance stipulated dry powder. Damages the engines but much more efficient at protecting the rest of the boat and those on board.

If the engines are still running when they go off and the powder is injested it will stop the engine, possibly permanently so there are merits in some of the alternatives.
Thanks for that, nice to know. Never been in a position where they've fired but I can stop being so paranoid. Double filters on the Tand72p's so hopefully they would survive.?I was running a pair of Perkins with open turbo inlets, no filtering, a dry powder extinguisher went off and there was no impact on the engines at all. I fully realise there maybe other engines/install where there might be damage.
So did the insurers agree to the use of this type and whether it was necessary to operate it manually as well to meet their insurance conditions?
Fire trace should be able to supply what you need, they make up just about any system you want.
