Our Navman depth has died, digits disappearing probably damp penetration.Which makes could I replace with and keep the old transducer. Advanses is one, if still available. Any others?

Have you considered a fishfinder with internal transducer ?
I need the unit to sit with other instruments in the hatch garage no room for bigger machine. Curious though how a fishfinder has a depth transducer internally.

Echopilot Bronze. Give them a ring, to be totally sure of the compatability but I am almost 100% that it would work.

It would also act as a repeater for GPS info. I find this very useful, tho you may not.

Echopilot blurb encourages your suggestion thanks but chandlers seem to list the log, head only but not the depth. or can that head be used for either input?

It is possible to mend it - instructions on YouTube. The tape connection to the screen is replaced using a zebra connector from a cheap LCD display. I mended ours a couple of years ago and it's fine still. There are posts on here you can search out.
