Hi All

I am looking for a new dinghy to replace my honwave. My question is should I purchase one while in the UK and if so what is the best way to get it the the boatyard or purchase one when I return to Greece and if the latter where is a good places to buy one?

I bought a new 2.3 metre dinghy at LIBS. It is being delivered by UPS to Leros as arranged by the dealer for £50. My experience with dinghies is that you need to buy the exact one that you want. The choice in Greece is very limited by comparison with UK.

Thanks Vyv. Which supplier did you use BTW?

Boating Mania http://www.boatingmania.co.uk/ The SunSport range seems to have taken over from Quicksilver, they look almost identical to our 2.6 but with some improvements. We always thought the slatted and Airdeck versions of the 2.3 were too small for us, although they would fit on the foredeck far better. However the new version with the inflatable V floor seems more roomy in the bow, so we bought one. Our 2.6 is still in good enough condition to sell in Greece.

thanks for the replies on this which are met appreciated. Viv the sunSport Range look ideal. Carmel 2,thanks for the link. Ok so based on your feedback I am coming to the following conclusion. Problems I encountered with the honwave were 1 the floor never really maintained pressure, 2 the dark blue tubes got very hot in the sun which basically made the seems melt. 3 it was pretty heavy to handle on deck at 34kg

ones i am currently thinking about are zodiac cadet 260 aero at 29kg, SunSport ARIB 270 or AIB265 or the Bonbard X3 roll up weighing in at 23kg

has anyone had experience of any on the above< i have only seen pics on the net so no real idea of build quality etc .
