I'm thinking about updating the displays on my boat which will require a new dash panel. Has anyone got any recommendations for suppliers - presumably cut to order?

Going through the same process here right now - we have solved it by selecting the biggest damned plotter that will fit - completely fills the available space, so no need to take steps to cover up the previous equipment! Also looks more impressive... :-)

I used to have the old fake wood re done my dashboards by Axon components

http://axoncomponents.com/old_site/catagories.php?catname=panels

I sent them my old dash and all the dials ETC that I wanted in the replacement, They send me a diagram of the layout for my approval and then polished on the lenses for me as well,
They can do a range of colours , They sent me samples of the paints I thought would work. So I knew what the finished product would look like, Price wise very reasonable and would use again

I have a couple of photo's I could pm you if you like

I have used Axon a couple of times in the last 2 or 3 years. They can produce a finish on metal that is indistinguishable from wood - if that's what you are looking for They may have the basic measurements for your boats dashboard (they certainly do for Fairline / Broom etc). I sent them cutter guides for the instruments and displays and everything fitted perfectly. A great service at a good price.

Thanks - funnily enough I emailed Axon yesterday after trawling through old forum posts. I'll let you know how I get on.

Maybe get some carbon fibre sheet (proper thing, not a sticker) & cut it to size and glue it over the existing dash.

It's a Nimbus so CF would look a bit out of place. I'm tempted to make something in marine ply and either apply a veneer sheet or wrap it with a matt vinyl.
