Replacement circuit breaker

I have broken the lever that operates the circuit breaker on the mains electrical panel, it's a double pole switch but with only one lever, i can get a replacement switch but it operates with two levers connected by a bar, this is not a direct replacement and would neccesitate having to drill the panel to take the switch, not something I want to do if possible. I have tried most of the suppliers I can think of in Plymouth and on the internet, I have spoken to Carlingswitch who tell me that they supplied these switches to Jeanneau and would be on a four week back order.
The reference number is AB2-XO-08-602-9D2-C

Any of you guys no any alternate suppliers? Thanks in anticipation.
 
That's an unusual switch, and vvv unlikely to be in stock. It's a Carling A series, which is a common series, but that's an unusual version. I have bought much Carling stuff from various of their distributors over the years and except for one they wouldn't carry such an item in stock I think

The one exception is a big boat electrical place called Lyvio in Antibes. I've never found anything he doesn't stock. He speaks good english. If you want to try him, Google the number and call, and I can get someone to walk into his shop, pick it up and mail it to you tomorrow. He wont be uber cheap as he adds Cote D'Azur Special Boat Tax to MRSP, but his business model is to have everything in stock

The other way is to drill a 3mm hole into the plastic moulded actuator that is broken, and araldite an M3 set screw in there, to make a new lever, which would tide you over for a month or so
 
I think mine used to look a bit like that. Replaced it with one that is about half the thickness, screwing into just 2 of the holes top and bottom, and blanked the space off.

I didnt do it, my father and his mate did, in Madeira, before I bought the boat.

I'm guessing you only need something that fits the holes, and takes the amps??
 
That would probably be the answer, but the way it is wired it switches the positive and negative feeds, if iI replace it with a single pole switching the lives I will have a permanant negative. I am sure that if there is a short the RCD will trip but not convinced a permanent negative would be a good thing.
Hear what you say as well jfm and can still operate the switch as it is so will probably reinstall it and wait the four weeks.

Carlings usually come apart. The insides are fiddly, but re-assemblable if you're smart ish. So you could buy any A series, and just swap the actuator
