Further to my post about my non operational windlass.. I have identified the brushes in the motor are faulty and need replacing.

Can anyone advise where I can obtain replacement brushes or where I can get the carrier refurbished.

Or better still does anyone have a motor or parts I could purchase.

The motor in question is a Lemac 65178 M7 12v 150W DC Motor.

Thank you

Mark

I replaced the brushes on my Lofrans by obtaining some car starter motor brushes that were a bit larger, which I filed to fit. Plenty on Ebay.

some brushes are made of different material to take high current so when you try them do it with no load so they bed in because if they spark they will fail ,also look down the hole where the brushes go to see what the com is like .ps had the brushes just worn down or did they show burning

Thanks for that advise..regarding the brushes one side had fractured

have a good look down the brush hole with a torch make sure the com is dark brown it is not work there is no segments on the com missing there should be an equal gap between the segments ,can you turn the com by hand
