My turn of the century Bavaria has been having problems with the push button latches on the lockers .... after 20 years service the most used ones are starting to give up. I took one off and brought it home to look for a replacement. To my surprise I found some on E-Bay .... in Hong Kong .... that looked perfect from the photos, and the dimensions seemed to be spot on. I took a punt and ordered 20 .... enough for all the lockers on the boat ..... total cost €69,60

After 2 weeks they arrived ..... old vs new

.. result!!! :encouragement: ... almost identical and fully functional.

Anyone with a turn of the century Bavaria in need of latches .... this is a source ....

... will fit them in a few eeeks and see how they hold out.

I have a Bav and before that a Sealine. The latches look identical to the ones Sealine use on their doors. If so check out Seabridge and perhaps contact them.

The other place for Bav spares seems to be SVB - google them.

I did look at SVB .... they want €12,95 for the body, and €2,95 each for knob and decor ring, total €18,85 + postage .... from Hong Kong it's €3,67 for everything including postage :encouragement: .... €69 for the complete boat (20 latches).

By all means go for new, but when you open up the back of these catches, the plate comes off quite easily. The mechanism then requires a piece of bent plastic to activate the reciprocating catch mechanism. Milk bottle quality is great. By just jamming this in and replacing the back plate, you will be back in business. Try one whilst waiting for the tide!
