BEP do a combined VSR/switch which they advertise as a straight replacement for a 1/2/both switch.Anyone done this & will it work with a Sterling alternator controller.I have one Red Flash starter battery & 2no 110 domestics.

the vsr will have a switch within it to enable you to "Combine" the 2 banks.
i have a Both 1 & 2 + a Victron "Cyrix" Battery Combiner. the Cyrix works & does wot it says on the box.
i am able to link the batteries with the Cyrix but don't need to because of the
B 1 + 2 switch.

the Cyrix will control both alternator & Batt charger it senses both banks all the time. it delays pulling in the other bank until 14.2v is reached or after 10 mins of operation, the reverse happens when charging is ceased

Henry @ Fox's got the Cyrix for me for under £70

Cyrix here

I use a Victron Cyrix vsr to link my starter battery and domestic bank and use the Sterling alternator controller. It works fine, but you still need isolation switches for the batteries for when you leave the boat.

I replaced my 1/2/both/off switch with a switch cluster/VSR from Merlin (power-store). It was the BEP one.

Easy to fit. Would recommend.

AMOF You should use a combination of 1 VSR +1 battery switch.
BEP has a few good looking and apparently well engineered pieces of equipment under the caption "modules".
They were kind to explain how to use one of them to manage the batteries in my 393 (2 VSR, 3 battery switches an 1 Emergency parallel): it all fits in a neat 20 by 15 cm or so. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
Waiting for the credit crunch to pass, before buying it. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Yes - I've done it. Twice. Once on my current boat and once on the previous one. It's a straight replacement except you need a low current negative wire from the battery bank to the negative side of the VSR - it's obvious when you see it and look at the BEP wiring diagram.

No connection other than as a happy customer. Recommended.

I have them on Full Circle.
Very successful, bit tight if you have really serious gauge cables.

Advantage is the REMOVEABLE Emergency Parallel switch. I keep the removable bit in the cutlery drawer. Stops accidental operation which might flatten both batteries at once if left on for several weeks.
