OK so I got the new avon, patches and special glue. Thought I'd got the first davit patch on perfect. Second, well a bit iffy as I first put it on upside down. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

So left n the garage for about a month, then on the davits with a safety wire, for a month or so. All looked fine. Then what I thought was the good one, fell off. No sign of tearing, or coming loose. So whats the job of mending it on the pontoon. Will it stick better over the old glue, or has it all to come off.

See the Tech info sheet on Polymarine's website.

Yes I think you should clean off the old adhesive. Start again from scratch. Solvent available from Polymarine.

You were using the 2 part adhesive ?

All the old glue has to come off. Only use two part glue. Mine came off after a couple of years.
Best to deflat dinghy completely and get some pressure on the patch, when you re-glue it, like an out board lying on top!

Just had an aside, lightly sand the patch and the inflatable and use the solvent to clean the area, helps the glue to bond to the patch/inflatable. Just like you used to on yer bike inner tube!

One other thing, use the glue EXACTLY as it says on the tin, three coats dry between etc.
