I am in the process of fixing an onl canadian canoe. So far I have chipped away many layers of flaking old paint and got back to some areas of sound getcoat and some areas very crazed gelcoat. Oh yes, and a large hole in the transome where my wife dropped it when removing it from the car roof.

So , once the holes are patched with matt and epoxy, should I spray it with awlgrip or the like, or, brush paint it with flocoat?

There is always going to be a degree of flex in it and I don't want what ever I put on to start cracking immediately!

As a final thought. Should I fix the hole in the transom or cut a well for an electric outboard...now there is a lazy idea!
