Any suggestions please as to what is the best adhesive to repair moulded 'plastic'. In this case the 'plastic' is the throttle lock device on the hand grip throttle of an outboard. Have tried a couple of proprietary brands without success.

I've never found a satisfactory consumer product for gluing thermoplastics, it usually involves drilling and tapping, or bolting, to effect a lasting repair.

I have heard of some success bunging up holes in abs hulls using sikkaflex, I believe that modern car bumper repairs are carried out by some process of thermoplastic welding, but again have no direct knowledge.

Is it a wee thumbscrew type of tensioner?
If so just drill it out and fit a s/s one, which can be made from a m6 set screw with the head cut off and a wing nut welded on. then cut to the proper length and fitted.

Is it a Johnson or Evinrude. If so it should be possible to buy a replacement part.

sadly it is the unit which holds the tensioner.
