Replacing standing rigging on my fractional rigged Dehler 34 (think rigging is 7mm) - any recommendations for supply of rigging for DIY installation? (boat south coast based)

Do all suppliers supply same quality of rigging and terminals if not which is best?

Norsemans or other similar swageless fittings are reusable and, with practice, you can be DIYd as you don't need a swaging machine. Plus they are reusable but they may not be worth the expense unless your planning to keep the boat for a long time! And use 316 wire instead of 304(?).

I have used them and am very impressed with service, quality and prices.

Purchased the complete rigging (10 wires all 8mm) for a 33ft masthead craft, all correct and delivered in time. They even went to the trouble to find and fit the correct Gibb T ball terminals and retainers to match the mast fittings.

The swegeless terminals for the lower ends and the transmitter insulators were purchased seperately from Peterson.

Their service was also exceptionally good.

Sta-lock or norseman are very easy to fit and use - and they can be changed easily when you redo the rigging in 10 years time - ish.

I renewed my standing rigging in Gibraltar a few years ago - took two days. Had purchased all the required sta-lock fittings from a mail order company - got the ss wire from the local shop. Took down one shroud at a time so did not need to drop the mast but needed a few trips in the bosuns chair....

I shopped around a lot on the net and found these people:

- really helpful. The chap I spoke to recommended swaged terminals to the mast, if appropriate and using Sta-Lock or Norseman for the connection to the chain-plates. The price of their wire is very good and is 316. I am having mine done with them they fit the swaging/whatever, for the mast, I do the Stalock bit. Apparently: Chay Blyth's 14 identical 67ft yachts raced round the world with Sta-Lok rigging hardware.
Good enough recommendation I think. Best of luck, let us know how you get on Steve

The prices quoted for rigging in the UK are other-worldly.

Try Marine Technology,

Their prices will be about 50% of UK riggers and they use chromed bronze rigging screws of a far heavier section than most other riggers.

If you do feel compelled to buy in the UK try David White at Z-Spars UK Ltd, Brett Works, Pound lane, Hadleigh, Suffolk IP7 5EH.
Don't mention my name, we're not friends (as far as he's concerned).
