Renewing boards in cockpit area - how to fix ?

I have got a contractor to make new panels for the sides of Searay 280 cockpit area, he used industrial strength velcro, which worked, but over the winter despite the cockpit cover the mositure in the air, they just fell off, Should I just use "sticks like shit" glue or screw them in as they where originally done 30 years ago. I f they where screwed in the screw heads would loose all the nice look of the new boards, that cost over £3000 to replace.

Are you saying that the velcro was glued on to the panels and the sides of the cockpit area, and that the glue joints have now failed?
Or has the velcro itself failed?
If the former, did the contractor use the same 'sticks like shit' glue that you mention above?

I've fitted one side panel using heavy pan head screws into the back of the panel and keyhole slots in the area behind. You can adjust the tightness using the screws. Can supply a pic' if you're interested.

Yes, almost impossible took 2 adults to pull it off, yet damp just made it flop off overnight

yes, please and where you got the screws ? what did you cover the top of the screws to get a nice finish ?

Did the Velcro stay stuck and just failed with the hooks and loops.
If so, why not try the stuff that most boat builders use - 3M plastic Dual Lock.
I only did a quick search but this is the kind of thing I mean.

yes, please and where you got the screws ? what did you cover the top of the screws to get a nice finish ?

I'll send a pic' on Monday, the screws are from the local fastener shop and don't need covering as they are behind the panel. Plenty of screws on Ebay in small quantities as well! Is that white strip the Velcro? If so it looks very light duty. Maybe your best and easiest solution is to get some heavy duty Velcro and simply carry on as before.

Are you sure that's 'industrial strength' Velcro?

It doesn't look like it to me.

And did it engage all along its length, or just in parts?

it is dual lock and was fitted by the contractor, unfortunately he has passed away since
