Our boats upholstery is silvetex, and there are a couple of water stains on it, I've tried all the usual cleaning products (fairy liquid and various soaps) but they won't shift the stains.

So does anyone have any sure fire products for getting rid of water stains from silver tex?

Cif cleans a lot of things well but you need to be careful that you aren't damaging the surface of the item you are cleaning.
For example, GRP Gelcoat cleans up really nicely with Cif but best to treat the surface afterwards.
Yep, I have also read that isopropyl alcohol is good for cleaning silvertex so will give that a try.

It seems like quite a tough fabric though,so hopefully will be ok,will try on a hidden area first

Update I didn't try the CIF,but I tried isopropyl alcohol which didn't work.

I then tried some suncream, which worked a treat. A small amount of suncream, let it sit for a few minutes ,then agitate with your fingers, let it sit some more, then rinse off with fairly liquid and water. Repeat until the stain is gone. Took about 5 goes.

I used piz buin factor 30,but I guess anything like that would work.

Magic sponges should always be a last resort for any cleaning challenges.

For silvertex, I'd have tried baby wipes. Glad you've found a solution though.
Good idea with the baby wipes, there's not much they don't shift, might try that next time

Glad you found a solution.
Our upholstery guy recommend this stuff .Available in most markets .Some sort of soap from Marseille.
It works on everything else on the boat as well handy to have on the boat .It not abrasive either .

What is that stuff? Can't work out the translation to English (or Spanish).

I guess there must be a Spanish equivalent, will have a look round the chandlery/supermarket

I spoke too soon on the suncream solution, once everything had dried out the stain was back.

So I have now bought some baby wipes and some white venegar and will give them a go tomorrow.

When the chandlery reopens on Monday I'll go and have a browse around and see what they've got.

Maybe it's not water marks?? I guess I don't know for certain that it's water, but it looks like that kind of thing
