Two questions in one thread ...

1 My boat names were getting a bit tatty so I jetted them off at the weekend and have ordered some fancy new ones.

Other than acetone, which makes me nervous on GRP, any spirit based cleaner I can use to remove the remnants of glue left behind. White spirit didn't touch it. Once the glue has gone I will give it a light cut, but don't want to do this with the glue still there in case it drags across the surface.

2 I need to bed in the bearing housing for my upper cutlass bearing. As the only way to remove this bearing is by taking the housing out I ought to use a non hardening mastic. If I use Sikaflex I fear it would never shift again as access for removal is atrocious.

I have seen prior threads for non hardening mastics but never used them myself. Any recommendations ?

Thanks.

'Sticky Stuff Remover'. Great stuff. Works on vinyl glue - have never had much success with meths or white spirit. Acetone should be ok to use (in moderation) so long as it is not stuck onto paint - ie it is straight on gel coat.
