Removing Treadmaster

Does anyone have experience of removing treadmaster from GRP? Mine is in good condition, no lifting edges and has been epoxied in place. I want to change to teak in the cockpit and have been advised NOT to go straight over the top of the treadmaster, but to remove it completely.

Having been viciously assaulted in the nether regions by a yacht attracted by my shapely stern...had to have the pushpits Port & Starboard replaced...required removal of Treadmaster....wos not easy!!...required a variety of sharp chisels, mallet, Drill with wire brush,etc. Lots of mess and a fair amount of time. Not a nice job.

You might try a router set to minimum depth, followed up by an appropriate solvent and a scraper to take off what's left and the glue. Bear in mind that if the underlying GRP picks up a few dings, that'll be made good when the teak is epoxied down.

Epoxy the teak in place using only the minimum number of screws because the screw-cover dowelling is what causes most problems later in life.

As Mudplugger said, this is a horrid masty job. Hours and hours with chisels. If you can find anyway to leave it there I would.
