One source of my stiff throttle problem is I believe the lever box
I’ve had the cover off and started to disassemble but really the whole box needs to come out.
I can only lift the box about an inch from the fibre housing and the cables stop me from going any further.
The boats a Sealine S37 but the installation must be common to most VP engined boats
Any ideas how to remove the cables.
If I hand the problem to the yard they will just fit new units €€€€’s whereas it probably needs a good clean and grease up

Those are dead simple. Lift up the central cover. remove the gearshift. inside will be two throttle mechanisms each held in with a pair of screw / bolts. loosen those and that one mechanism will lift out at least 30cm with cables attached. Just be careful not to crack the cover when lifting. Its a pinch from the side and lift along the longitudal axis. The levers should be held on with a grub screw. Dont be surprised if its an imperial size.

BTW. It's highly unlikely to be that. Each of the mechanisms is about 250 quid each and trust me, they dont really wear out or give the kind of problems you experience. Mostly they just wear the friction screw out or you have to replace the neutral safety switch because it's come loose or worn. Unless changing cables leave well enough alone

Thanks Bruce
I had the cover off and the levers on mine are held on splines. If I can easily find what’s holding the cable back and pull the unit out I can then detach the cable and test the theory.
The s’board side has freed off nicely with usage this week.

You wont find an exploded diagram as your unit comprises a number of parts.

Firstly your throttle controls fall into a model category (now replaced) but they are Volvo Penta 3849409 Marine Boat Motor Twin Top Mount

exploded diagrams here: https://marinepartseurope.com/en/de...744250&img=54227.png&header=Control, Top Twin

But the actual cable control mechanism inside is pretty universal in this genre and is part no 851600

here is a photo of the grub screw (or at least it slots into a recess to retain the lever on) holding the lever on and on the mechanism the friction screw

Mines a bit different with less metal and more plastic, obviously been value analysed.
Im hoping to get into the lazzerette on Sunday (visitors next couple of days)
Cheers

Possibly held in place by restraints on cable
Indeed you are correct.
Actually the cables go into a bunch of other cables with one of those concertina cable tidy tubes which held them quite rigidly. Easy to pull the cables free and now I can lift the lever unit.
It was the end of this trip so that’s as far as I got but the next step is quite clear now
thanks
