Winter boredom has finally arrived and curiously some niggling jobs still have not fixed themselves.

A snap davit pad has started to delaminate from a PVC tube .
Only in one corner so far but its started and only going in one direction.
Dinghy is deflated and in garage with a good chance that any repair will be left fror 48 hours before being put back into use.
Suspect the whole thing has to come off to do proper job ?
How to remove Heat ?? and do you really need to get all that brown residue off before regluing.
Been comparing adhesive prices and local chandlery is cheaper than Ebay because of P&P charges.
All advice welcome.

Heat from a hair dryer is ample... aim it into the gap and take your time and with just a slight pull, the pad should gradually come off.

Careful. You'll be surprised how hot using just a hair dryer can get..

As to re-sticking... you really need the right solvent first to prepare the area... then correctly apply the adhesive and wait.

No connection, but I would buy the solvent and two part adhesive from the company below, and follow their instructions to the letter.

Download instructions from this page..

Repair - Polymarine RIB Inflatable boat repair
Thanks to all for comments.
First stop was the Polymarine website but can get the exactly same kit cheaper from local chandler.
Regards solvents, have bottles of Acetone, Isopropyl alcohol and MEK on the shed shelf, all available more cheaply from Ebay.

I recently removed & reglued mine.
The old parch fittings came off fairly easily by simply pulling the loose corner & helped with a paint scraper.
The difficult task was removing the old glue from both Dingy & Patch Fitting. For this i used a combination of heat & acetone with said paint scraper. On the patch a flap disk is useful.
To reattach throughly clean with acetone & use 2 pt adhesive, with as much pressure as you can apply.
All the above easier with the dinghy fully inflated.

Maybe but the cleaner/primer recommended also contains tetrahydrofuran which is a powerful solvent for PVC

If you must use your eBay sourced butanone ( MEK) add the appropriate amount of tetrahydrofuran to it to use as the primer.
