Removing Log (Sea Data Silva / Nexus ? )

I want to replace the paddlewheel on my log. Anyone know how this is removed?

I have turned the log so the arms now line up with the upwards slot. Do I just pull or is there something else that needs to be undone?

I dont think it has been removed in a long time, so probably a bit stuck and needs a bit of pressure, but I dont want to apply the wrong pressure and do some avoidable damage.
However, it did turn easily

A lever and CAREFULLY pry it upwards using a suitable block as a fulcrum. A little pressure on alternate sides would be my method. I’d be having a tapered bung close at hand though. Just in case.

Perhaps some lubricating spray to ease the plastic on plastic friction?

Thanks. So in theory it just pulls out. Nothing else to unscrew?

Boat is out of the water, so no immediate risk. Just dont want to find out in a couple of months that I broke something.

You may well find deposits have built up around where the transducer exits the hull, so clean that up first. It may well need a bit of persuading if it has not been out for a while.

Exactly .... look under the boat at the log and clean away any crud / barnies ... its common that the log is stuck because of this.

Usually turning back and forth while pulling up allows it to come out of the mount tube. remember that it has to be a tight fit on the O rings to stop water coming in ...

Its not a bad idea to remove the log periodically - not only to clean the paddle wheel - but to keep the log reasonably free to remove etc.

I was assuming boat still in water. If ashore I’d squirt some bleach up to kill creatures and later some citric acid - used in jam making - but good for cleaning crusting crud away. I gave up with my last paddle wheel , difficult to get to, boat rarely ashore, just used ground speed.
