One of the handles on my Easy Lock 1 jammer is broken.

I have found replacements for sale on the internet, but cannot work out how to remove the old one. There is a pin running across but I cant see how to release it. I cant see anything to unscrew.

Any one know how to remove the handle?

Here is one if you dont know the model I mean :

Thanks!

normally have screws on one side (four or five from memory) to separate sides from middle mechanism. Hold down bolts are visible from top hole by rope outlet hole and under clutch. Access nuts behind headlining

You need to take off the jammer from the deck mounting first, then as Stephen says below, it will be easy to see what to do.

I would make a rough guess thast the handle pin is a piece of stainless rod about 3mm diameter which has been rivetted (peened ) over at each side. It would be very difficult to duplicate the rivetting so I would replace with a stainless bolt of suitable size with lock nut after grinding off the end of the original pin. I have used this method to replace sheaves in simple pulleys often using a piece of tube as a spacer.Of course I may be imagining something different. regardsw will

No - I've got these and removing the handle is very easy. The stainless rod which acts as a pivot for the handle(s) has a small circlip on the end. Just prise it off making sure it does not drop in the water, and slide out the pin. You can then remove the handle.

When you look at your new handle you will see you can fit it either way up as there are two holes drilled in it for the pivot pin. Whick way up you fit it depends on the thickness of rope running through the jammer.

Hope this helps

Dave.
