Removing Epoxy

Hi,
I have been given a fairly nice fixed wooden rudder for my 19 footer. However the previous owner pretty much just slapped some epoxy onto it and now some of it is peeling off. I now want to take all of the epoxy off, can anybody suggest the best means of doing this?

I just finished taking my wash boards back to bare wood.
To remove the epoxy layer, I found a wood chisel the best in the end.
keep it sharp.
