A couple of years ago I bit the bullet & scraped the paint form my boat's coachroof. Some time in the boats life paint was appied that didn't adhere well & therefore, it's comming off in places. Now I have a section of deck that needs stripping. I'm expecting to do the lot eventually.

The coachroof was VERY hard work with a tungston carbide scraper. Some sections just fell off whareas others definitely didn't.

Anyone tried a power scraper? Any other ideas other than chemical? I don't want a mush to clean up.

just had to do the same on my 32 ft yacht, i wasnt looking farward to it! i think at sometime it was painted with 'snowceme' bought a power scraper from Lidl, but bought some black and decker tungston blades for it, cant belive how easy it was to get old paint off

Thanks Bert, I looked around & couldn't see any blades that are stated as tungston. Any ideas?

BTW was this a "multi-tool" type power scraper? These oscillate from side-side rather than tools that are "scraper/carver" types. These oscillate foreward & back like a chisel action rather than a cutting action.
