Removing Antifoul Wet or Dry how Toxic is it?

Why do you think you never used to see old men working in dry docks either the A/F or the Welding gases got them!
Nowadays there is no Arsenic, lead or tin in A/F but there is still Copper and Agricultural biocides.
If removing A/F by any means you must wear a good tight fitting nose/mouth mask protective glasses and gloves
ensuring all skin is covered.
I have seen numerous people hospitalised after inhaling A/F dust and having suffered myself wouldn't wish it on anyone
IYP A/F stripper can be very effective but dont use it on a cold hull
I found that a liberal coating covered with a layer of newspaper and left for the reccommended period had exellent results

If mixing your own caustic soda, do take care. I seem to remember soda over heating when mixed with water. If the soda is still supplied as flakes, then the wind can cause them to become airborne. I once had a flake land on my tongue. It took a year or two to heal.

Most pesticides are nerve toxins. they have been implicated in Parkinson's disease There are several types of toxic reaction, including direct damage. The most dangerous type is when the immune system responds strongly to the toxin, and cause extensive, long term, damage to the affected nerves.

I speak from personal experience, though mine was caused by a nerve blocking drug.

Thankfully, I am now well enough to work and enjoy life again.
