I've used Micron CSC for years and believe me, it doesn't all erode away. No detectable difference between Micron and loads of others. My normal practice is to antifoul without stripping the old stuff for about 4 years, when it begins to become apparent that flaking is taking place and the whole hull begins to look tatty. In the past I always used Dilunet to strip off the old stuff, but this year I used a scraper attached to a vacuum cleaner. This has proved very effective, especially in terms of not cleaning up an unpleasant mess afterwards. I am now using an orbital sander with vacuum extraction to remove the final vestiges of antifouling, prior to applying Gelshield in spring.
