I guess this has been asked before but a search didn't produce anything so ...

I've just ripped up the floor surface of my cockpit. Rather nasty cork-like stuff, backed with what looks like lino. What's left looks like evo-stick or some such like adhesive. How do I get it off? I don't need a perfect finish because I'm going to cover it with something else, just a flat surface rather than the moutain range I've got now.

If it is Evo-stick then warming it with a hairdrier may help soften it before using a decorators scraper. Alternatively, genuine turps or surgical spirit is very good at glue normally. I'm sure these are flammable though and have addicitve side effects if you sniff them for too long!

I thought Evo-stik made a solvent for there glue. I think you could ask them if you call 01785257755 (old number) the operator should be able get the new number.

Happy sailing Paul :)
