Removing a Vetus Steering Wheel

This may sound like a silly question, but I cant get my steering wheel off the shaft. The wheel has a cap on it, but this is firmly held fast and there appears no way of removing this cap. What am I missing?

Surely the hubcap would just be a press fit? I'd get a sharp knife and tap it in between the steering wheel and the hubcap.

It should come apart easily.

Mine has a wee slot in the cap to insert a blade to remove the cap.

Mine has a small grub screw in the side that you need to undo before prising the cap off with a small screw driver

The Brass Vetus one, shows a small hole for a grubscrew . Get back to us, on how you got on, thanks in advance .

found I could use a wood chisel all round to gently tap the cover back off.....

My Vetus steering wheel has a push fit cap, it just prises off. The next problem you'll have is getting the wheel off the Morse taper on the shaft ?
