Done the dumb thing! Used duct tape to stick polythene sheet over the coachroof openings while I re-glazed the windows, and now need to get off the duct-tape adhesive residue off the GRP!! Any solutions, please ? Would prefer a solvent solution, rather than a mechanical one !

Do not laugh but the is a > 50% chance WD40 then rubbed with cloth. otherwise 'borrow' some ladies nail varnish remover.

For starters try baby wipes - I never cease to be amazed at what these will remove . . . a bit alarming that they are used on babys bums really /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I would not use acetone on gel coat.
Or nail varnish remover.
Petrol will probably work, but may stain if gel coat is at all old or chalky.
White spirit may work, try it first.
If available, IPA (isopropanol) is worth a try.
Meths may work, but may leave purple marks.
WD40 is quite good. Not sure about staining.
Some of the foaming aerosol cleansers may work well, particularly if the glue is fresh. RS do one specially for glue and label removal.
Aerosol wax furniture polish can also be surprisingly effective!
Personally, I've used petrol, but I can't accept responsibility if it stains, you never know whats in it now.

Thats how you get dead end kids /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Made our two the men they are today!
Another option is Halfords Industrial Wipes- "citrus based", but have shifted fresh-ish Sikaflex, mastic and tape stains on our gelcoat in their time.

I noticed that the label always comes off the baby oil bottle, so have used it (the oil, not the label) on all sorts. Amazingly effective on some otherwise stubborn goos.

If all these suggestions fail use ....

heat!

No don't use heat!!! The answer to what you need is on the wrapping. It's the cleaning ingredient as prescribed by the EU that has to be described on the wrapping.
