Remote to control iPhone/iPad - music streaming

To date I’ve used bluetooth from an older iPhone 6S to Pioneer car stereo head unit with Kef Egg speakers.

However, I’ve just been tempted by 3 free months of Amazon HD streaming and have hard wired my iPhone through a Dragonfly Red DAC into the head unit.

Sound is very good, but I can’t control the iPhone from where I sit.

Is there an Android app I can get for a Samsung S10 which would act as a remote control for the iPhone.

Or an iPhone app which could control an iPhone or iPad.... or something else that would work around this.

I‘ve tried TeamViewer and Splashtop, but they seem to only control desktops from mobiles, and not mobile to mobile.

Convinced there must be something, but can’t find it :(
 
I can remotely control a Samsung Tab (4G Sim) via Teamviewer from my desktop, so I would say you should be able to control a mobile from a mobile. Both would need to be able to connect to the internet.
 
TeamViewer (and similar) will not work to control an iPhone. I doubt very much that you will find an Android app to do this, it’s the sort of thing Apple would not allow even if possible (would be happy to be proved wrong). Your best bet would be a Bluetooth remote control of some kind, as mentioned above, but I have no personal knowledge of any.

Why not just play the music via a Bluetooth DAC?
I have a £20 Prozor DAC which sounds pretty good to me.
I don't currently have access to the test equipment to put numbers to its performance.

Being messed about by both Apple and Android sounds like the worst possible way forwards?

I also have a £12 ebay bluetooth Class D Amplifier which runs off 12V. It's driving a pair of old speakers in the garage. Apart from lacking a little in power I struggle to find fault with it. I stream to it using either a Nokia 5 or an old Hudl.
 
I also have an inexpensive Bluetooth amp, powering a couple of car speakers. Plenty loud enough to be anti-social if I wanted to be, with perfectly acceptable sound quality.

Works great with my phone in the cockpit. Just now bought the mini remote so I can leave the phone below in inclement weather

I am conscious that I’ve opened a door I might have preferred not to walk through :)

I also play via Bluetooth to my Bose Soundlink speaker, and it’s fine, but I have these Kefs that sound better than the Bose, and can sound amazing with the right source:

Some years ago I bought a Dragonfly Red DAC, and couldn’t for the life of me hear any improvement when I added it to any of my music sources - this, despite the world and its dog swearing that the improvement over a phone DAC or a laptop DAC, was like night and day. My conclusion was that it was audiophile snake oil.

Anyway, having got the free Amazon HD trial, I thought I would see if the Dragonfly made the sound better, and it does.

I also watched a video by John Darko who showed himself using an LGv40 controlling an iPad. i.e. The LG is the remote, and the iPad is the streamer, hard wired via a Dragonfly DAC. However, I think he is able to do it because he has a Roon system in his home..... Roon costs about £500 for a lifetime subscription, or an annual fee, and I’m not ponying up for that! :)

Given that I want a touchscreen facility where I’m sitting, it‘s looking like I’ll either find a better quality Bluetooth system like LW suggests, or get a longer wire.

It definitely looks like Apple won’t allow TeamViewer type software to take control - evidenced by the fact that it looks like it can be done with unapproved apps, either through a side door, or with a jail broken phone, and I don’t think I’m going in either of those directions.

I've had a good listen to some ripped tunes, and the same tunes streamed, (mostly HD and some Ultra HD), and there doesnt seem to be a noticeable difference in quality. This was with the iPhone hard wired via the Dragonfly Red.

Does that give an insight into something?

Amazon suggest that their HD quality is equivalent to that of a ripped CD.

Just gathering different opinions TBH.
A lot of the streamed music I listen to can be 'not great' quality, because I go looking for different content on Youtube etc, and it's content not quality I'm looking for.
The Dragonfly costs between 10 and 20 times other things which do the same job, so I wondered if you had firm opinions about audio quality.

Definitely not an audiophile, but I like good quality sound, (whatever that is), and I read that the Dragonfly, (or other DACs), would improve on a phone or laptop DAC in a night and day kind of way. As per #10 above, I couldn't for the life of me hear any differences, hence the snake oil thoughts.
