I'm sure I'm an idiot, but I get totally confused manouvering with my outboard-in-a-well.

Swapping sides therefore changing hands and turning towards/away from me for throttle, the gearshift being a bit fiddly and everything being so low down that I have to bend so far as to lose sight of my direction of travel it's a disaster.

On the plus side it does provide much mirth for my fellow club members, and I'm sure with sufficient practice I'd get the hang of it, but single handed it's just another thing in the way of actually mastering manouvering under motor - not my strong suit anyway.

So, long story short - is there an affordable option for remote gear/throttle - preferably one that does away with the tiller too? The ability to remove the engine (and thus controls) for extended sails would be a big boon, and in a perfect world with a removable lever, so it doesn't snag lines in the cockpit when sailing? It's a pull start engine, so no electrics involved

I fitted one to my Tohatsu in a well, Hunter Horizontal 23. Essential kit, but you may be shocked at price…..https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2634708799… very model dependant though so ch3 k carefully. I have found Cambridge outboards to be very good. Other item to fit is a steering lock…Pardon our interruption... pricey for bend steel, but does make a difference. The friction screw is just that; it is not designed to lock the O/B straight ahead.

Can you retry those eBay links please? They aren't working for me
