Just got round to giving the engine its mid season oil change. I'm getting a bit miffed with the location of the oil filter and the amount that gets spilt spinning off the old filter.
Done the usual searches on the net and contacted people I know in "the Know" and still drawn a blank. I'm looking for a remote filter kit for the old volvo. I can find kits designed for the car derivative of the engine, but they all use a sandwich plate arrrangement. I can't use this on the boat engine as theres already a sandwich plated oil cooler. So where can I get a remote filter conversion for a Vilevo petrol engine.
Also I've noticed a bit of corrosion in the cylinderhead which is cast in ali sitting atop a cast iron block. Looking round the engine and scanning the engine manuals I see no mention of a pencil anode anywhere. Does the 145 vilevo have'em or not. This year is the first year I've noticed corrosion in the cylinder head so I'm just wondering if I'm missing and anode or two.

Barry, Think Automotive do a plate that replaces the oil filter bored for 2 takeoff pipes. Use one of them & take the pipes up to a remote filter head. No pencil anodes cos it's freshwater cooled. Corrosion of a waterway points to you antifreeze not having enough anti-corrosion properties. I now always use the Halfords pinky anti freeze co everything I run is either all Ali (Rover V8) or ali/CI mixed (boat).

Wouldn't have thought there would be a problem in using a car-drived remote filter kit, and it shouldn't matter that you already have a sandwich cooler arrangement as the oil routes in the remote filter plate are designed to mimic the oil filter, so the cooler shouldn't notice any difference.....unless I have missed something???
