Hi
Just bought my first liveaboard, very exciting! Broom Ocean 37
I want to be able to leave it on an anchor for a few hours and be alerted by text or email if it starts to drift.
Because I use remote computer access for work, I'm getting a decent dual sim 4g router with external antenna, so I have the best chance of getting an internet connection.
All the anchor alarms I can find use SMS to alert you. This is fine if the boat has its own mobile phone running android, I could install Anchor Pro and it would sms text me if she starts to wander.
But seems wasteful to me to have my anchor alarm dependant on a mobile phone sitting in a window, when right next to it is high spec multiband router, with two mobile networks to choose from and a 5m high gain antenna. I would rather rely on that getting a signal!
What I need is an app that can send an alarm notice via wifi or email or some way of getting a PC or tablet to get the router to send an SMS. Even high spec 4g routers like a Proroute GEM 420, while capable of sms, will only send an receive via typing into its web browser.
Sorry this is probably more at home on a computer networking forum but I figure people may have already sussed out remote anchor alarms and I'm just looking at it wrong?
Cheers
Chris
