Remetzos Taverna. Vonitsa and Neilson pontoon at Nidri.

I have read on someones blog that Remetzo's Taverna in Vonitsa may no longer be in business. Great shame if this is so,the family were extremely obliging to visiting yachts with provision of food,drink and also laundry and book exchange facilities.They really were more of an unofficial yacht club.I really do hope they are still in business.Updates very welcome. and also the state of play re. the Neilson pontoon at Nidri would be helpful.

Remetzo's shut down last autumn: we were amongst the last customers before it closed. They cleared the place of all their stuff and when we visited the town by car earlier this year the place was clearly not about to reopen.

The Nielson pontoon is still open for business, no idea who, if anyone, is running it nor what is being charged. We were only a night on the hook in Tranquil but when we arrived the pontoon was about half full but was near capacity by the time we left the following morning.

and why they closed?

Chatting to the family it would appear that the older generation had had enough and the younger generation didn't feel they could run the place by themselves (perhaps not enough capital to keep it afloat after the older ones pulled out?). They were sad to be closing but seemed relatively upbeat about life after closing down.

thanks for the confirmation,very sorry to hear though, it must be so very difficult for these small tavernas, it was your blog I read it on. We are delayed coming out this year but will be there in July, and hopefully the Greek finance/Euro debacle will be sorted one way or another by then.
