The increase in registration charges for all EA managed waterways for 2025 will be +9%.
Renewal demands for the Thames will be sent out shortly.
This information was confirmed to user representatives at an online meeting yesterday and all river users should receive a confirmation email shortly.
Approximately 1000 Thames based users responded and 75% strongly disagreed or disagreed with the proposal. However the EA are implementing the proposal anyway. Democracy?

Time to remove name plates and moor offline on river.

Just reading the EA's email about this, obvious question is how much of our money did they waste on this consultation, given they were going to ignore the customers opinion given in the responses anyway...

It was clear from the responses that many customers did not support our proposal to increase charges by 9%. However, after careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to progress as outlined in the consultation.

It also says that subsequent increases will be CPI only or they will have another consultation for a higher rise. So basically they can do what they like.

So why waste money on the consultation when it was always going to be ignored?

Looking at the consultation document only 10% of their "customers" bothered to respond (50% of whom were thames based) so I guess they think 90% are either not bothered or happy to cough up more cash.
