Regal Vs Glastron

Hi Peter,

How the heck do Glastron manage to fit an 'armchair in the cuddy'?
We looked at Glastrons and can't remember seeing it, Am i right in saying your galley pack (sink) is fitted just in front of the passangers seat?

I think you will need to poost a picture for us to see the armchair.

Cheers...

Alistair...

P.s. Did they fix the dent?

I seriously looked at the GS209 5yrs back when I bought. Thought it looked good value, but I didn't like the somewhat larger than life character who ran the 'shop' at RYB. I reckoned he would be trouble if things went wrong. I also felt that it lacked a bit of freeboard for when things cut up rough.

Bought the Fletcher in the end, then it was about 3K cheaper than the Glastron, but is a bit smaller, with smaller engine. Been an excellent boat, but Fletcher had a number of build quality issues. You can't get away from it! Maybe the new Panthers will be better, already seen one, a 17ft bow rider, outboard.

Hi Alistair, thanks for the link, WOW looks great /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif Actually I have submitted an article for them, have a look at the site, then go to, your Glastron, then to tips & hints, then to ouboard winterization. You will see the article /forums/images/icons/wink.gif May be of use to some others as well.

Look at this link, http://adcache.boattraderonline.com/6/9/3/1258593.htm

You will see the WOT figures for the Volvo 4.3GL, I had steele developments re prop mine in Stainless Steel, it makes a massive difference, being much smoother and now gives me that little extra performance to 42knts (50mph) WOT

These boats such good value for money and so cheap, it's rude not to buy one /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

I haven't used the Porta Potti yet, although someone has kindly set it up for me. My wife was desperate for a No 1 the other day, but I didn't want to spoil the Porta Potti so got her to use the big black bucket I keep on board, seemed to work OK, although we haven't spoken since /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif she just smiled at the yachts going past /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif Baby just does it in the nappy, me I am a trained soldier so no probs, So Porta Potti us still a virgin /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

My potti is still a virgin as well, we will need to bet on who will lose their virginity last!!!!

My wife also wanted to use ours the other day, i said you use it, then you clean it. She hung her backside over the side of the boat instead. What a sight!!!! I knew the transom shower would come in useful for something!!!
As for the dog, he just ties a knot in it.....

A big black bucket is very handy, but obviously I don't know how big her arse is now, last time I was with her it seemed lovely /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

I notice that people are commenting on a certain Regal dealer who does not provide a good service. Who is this dealer, I have heard many people say Reglas are good boats, but then say not to buy one because of the dealer.

Being new to boating, and especially being interested in Regal, this concerns me that dealers are not providng a good service. Unlike car dealerships, it seems you cannot travel a few miles down the road to a new dealership if your current one is not providing an adequate service.

Though it is not my post, and I apologise for the request, but if someone could let me know who this 'dodgy dealer' is and why they should be avoided, even by pm if you do not wish to broadcast it, then please help me!!!!

Filling in your profile would help,

For all we know you could be the dealer in question

Don't worry particularly about buying a new Regal. They have a superb customer service ethic, and you'll get everything sorted if you have any issues. Their customer care is exemplary. There's a few dealers to steer clear of, but even then Regal send a field engineer out to the UK to sort warranty problems, which by-passes the dealer problems if the problem is something you can live with for a few months. There are also some dealers who are fine.

I'd buy a Regal again without question, but I'd be selective where I went. Personally, I wouldn't use Gibbs to buy another one. I'm sure they have some happy customers, but Regal provided a far better level of service directly

Regal

But I believe Gibbs are the main importer, so everything goes through Gibbs.....

Regal

whilst Regal may send engineers out, the first port of call will have to be the UK dealer.

For me the main problem is selling the Regal. How can you be sure the boat you are selling is actually yours. especially if you bought it secondhand.

From personal experience, buying or selling Regal can be a problem. Only do it if you can speak to EVERY owner personally and confirm they sold and received the funds for each transaction.

Re: Regal

Bought mine new, so don't have an issue.

Just go straight to Regal if you have a problem. They provide superb service.
If it's second hand, you don't have to use a Regal dealer for services etc
