Refurbishing side lockers & insulation

The slow ongoing refurb of my longbow continues. Saloon battened and insulation going up. Now looking to refresh the side lockers. They are above the saloon berths and under the side decks. While I’m on insulation, it seems to make sense to put in these too. Would you just add insulation to the back? Top and back?
I was going to paint the sides and base with danboline, would you prime it first ? any other suggestions than danboline?
This is them currently, complete with wadded newspaper from the eighties stuffed into a rounded void at back

Is the deck a sandwich at that point? If it is then just the hull side, if not then top and side.

I believe it is, but better double check.

White Danboline will be fine. Does not need a primer, just clean it up first.

White Danboline sides and bottom, no primer required. Insulation to the top, void and back.

Self adhesive cork tiles work well as insulation,

Lining all sides with vinyl flooring would give it a professional looking finish.
