I’ve stripped out a cabin as the foam-backed vinyl has died a death. All the surfaces are rough fibreglass. I want to paint the fibreglass with something smart-looking and easy to clean. The surfaces are mostly vertical, with some undersides. Condensation will be ever present with two people sleeping in the space. I will be gluing battens on some of the surfaces, too.
Reading up on here, Danboline seems to fit the bill. But satisfaction seems to have trailed off – possibly due to a reformulation (tried ‘Araldite’ lately?!!). So what’s the best alternative? Likely candidates are:
+ Flow Coat (http://www.ecfibreglasssupplies.co.uk/p-1267-white-flow-coat-top-coatinclusive-of-catalyst.aspx)
+ Hempel’s Bilge & Locker Paint (http://www.hempel.com/en/products/hempels-bilge-and-locker-paint-5112b)
+ Water-based epoxy? (http://www.antel-uk.co.uk/tds/waterbased-epoxy-coating.html)
+ Zinsser BIN http://www.zinsseruk.com/product/b-i-n/
+ Sadolin Superdec (http://www.sadolin.co.uk/products/sadolin-superdec-gloss-and-satin-opaque-wood-protection/)
Plus some more leftfield suggestions found on the forum:
+ Dulux Weathershield
+ Dulux Bathroom & Kitchen
+ Non-epoxy garage floor paint
+ Acrylic eggshell
+ B&Q anti-mould paint
+ 2-pack exterior gloss
+ Synto primer
+ Syntolac Rapid
+ Plastic dip paint
Any thoughts on preparation? I was thinking anti-bacterial surface spray to kill the mould, followed by hot, soapy water, followed by good rinse with water. This enough? Suppose much depends on choice of paint...
