Refleks heater- worth repairing?

You can still buy them. They're not particularly cheap, but a lot less than a whole new stove. Even if you don't need to use the thing any time soon I'd just clean up what you have and then buy and fit a regulator when the time comes.

+1, well worth saving, equal to 20 Eber bastos for long term use. In my opinion.

Just a quick word in favour of Refleks. A very nice heat source, simple, nothing much to go wrong, no electricity required - except in my case where I had to lift fuel from a keel tank.

If you ring them in Denmark, as I did, you'll get a helpful guy who speaks very good English and can answer all your questions re spares etc.

So. The regulator, pot burner, and coil thingy inside are all rusted beyond repair. All that was left of the heater was the stainless parts- i.e. the outer shell, and the flue fittings. I can buy replacement parts at a cost of over £400 so will have to think long and hard on that one, or scour the used market.

In the interim, I have, however, taken the liberty of installing a cheap Chinese camping stove burner inside the Refleks shell (it's a £30 MSR knock-off that runs from a little bottle of liquid fuel that you pressurise with a wee pump). After a bit of fiddling around, I have had it up and running nicely and it allowed us to cruise in comfort over the past few days, despite some very cold temperatures outside. It's a strictly temporary solution, and I don't trust it enough to leave it running unattended, but my total investment so far is about £35 and I have a working heater that runs on central heating oil, has an outside flue, and gets the boat hot and dry inside, which I consider a good result.

Well done, any chance of a couple of pictures?
