Hello PBO,

I am thinking of buying a second hand sailing boat in USA. During my research I got the impression that boats in America are cheaper than in the UK. Can you confirm that? Also I don't know anything about reflaging and paperwork, which will be involved. Can you recommend any kind of information source (webpage, books, etc.)?
Thank you very much
Sebastian Liedtke

Do a search through the forums as there has been extensive discussion on this subject including an on-line discussion with an American expert.

Don't forget you will have to pay VAT on the boat after a few months in the EU. Some European countries are cheaper than others. And that you will have to get the boat RCD certificated. If it is a curent model which has already been imported into the UK it will be quite simple and cheap , but if not, this could run into a LOT of money(thousands £££)
