Reel for shore power lead?

My understanding is that if you are hand winding the cable then do it clockwise. This then goes with the way the cable was made and works better than trying it anticlockwise. Alternatively if you lay the cable out full length and then using both arms walk up the cable going arm over arm - it bit like the way wool used to be wound.

I have a short cable on my boat - 5m in length for when the connection on the boat is close to the power point and a long cable - about 1.5 times the boat length - for when it is needed. The 2 can be connected in series if more length is needed.

Split my 30m into a 10m and a 20m length, since I only rarely need the full 30m. Shorter lengths are much more manageable!
