I see somebody in Government/The GPO/BT/Mobile Phone Operators skipped geography and has no idea what is west of Reading.

Sat on the SOUTH coast of Devonshire having a pleasant meal before attending the start of the end of the year celebrations or what young people call 'a gig', more a bunch of aging folkies reliving their youth, Mrs Sandy and I were in the lower quartile of the age range, enjoying food and real ale having understood that the area of the red wind warning was for NORTH Devonshire, specifically the Bristol Channel. Hearing a restaurant full of mobile phones simultaneously receive the "end of the world as we know it" alert almost caused several heart attacks.

Maddy Prior and the Carnival Band were very good and I am delighted to report that the T function in my hearing aids worked.

Strengthening at midday but local parks (Hamble/Victoria) closed so not risking a walk in the woods today.

Will be most fun up at the Needles battery today. Lymington ferry used have no probs with white out, tho I suspect thats all changed now. Nothing like hanging onto an old fence post horizontally to get the blood flowing.

The Lymington-Yarmouth route is susceptible to wind directions in the northern sector. The berth at Yarmouth becomes exposed. Hopefully it will be less strong by the time it’s gone northerly. A good strong westerly is fun near Black Rock on the ebb, but nothing beats a north easterly for unpleasantness in the western solent.
