Reeds Almanac Online

I find it easy to navigate. Updates/corrections happen automatically.

Drawback is the yot environment. Can you depend on the internet connection? Can you depend on the computer?

The paper version has the reliability.

I have not been impressed and have today sent an email to Reeds telling them so.

Although one of the major selling points is that corrections are made automatically, I spot checked the January list of amendments for the paper edition and didn't find any that had been made online. I was told 3 weeks ago, by a source within the organisation, that by the end of December Reeds did not yet have a functioning method for applying the corrections.

My other disappointment concerns saving information for use when working offline. This was something that I checked was available before I bought into the new system. However, all you can do is use the normal bowser functions to save individual web pages. It just about gives the ability to change the passage plan when away from wifi or mobile phone range, but it is very clunky.

I realise that there are always risks in being an early implementer, but I feel that I have paid a lot to be a guinea pig for an immature product. What you get at the moment is little more than a hyperlinked, online copy of the paper book.

Got it this year. I find it useful at home when the paper version is on the boat, which is where it will stay, For planning at home for Owners Assoc Rallies etc. I'm finding it very useful, and the more that I use it the easier it is to find my way around.

Yes you can print stuff off. The fee is annual, with a discount of 10% for renewals.

We had the talk on Sat at RHYC and it was interesting, I am a sucker for new techie stuff anyway so took advantage of the special #25-00 offer on the day. It does appear that the product is still in development to some degree, and should eventually offer facilities far beyond the capabilities of the book.
