Reduced Warranty on Volvos

If they can¨t trust their engines for longer than one year, it is hardly any encouragement to prospective customers no matter what the price is. I know that they are probably the most common engine on the market, but this action just gives credence to the commonly held view on this forum and others that v***os are cr*p. I hope that the competition make full use of this short-sighted attitude.

IMHO AIKDS

2-year minimum waranty

Manufacturers have to give a two year waranty on products sold to the consumer in the EU, whether it be toaster of boat.

So if Volvo sells you an engine, and your not a 'professional', you get a two year waranty. If they sell it to boat builders, they do not have to give you a two year waranty, but then the boat builder has to give you the two years.

My first power boat was a new one with Volvo three year warranty or so I thought. However I unknowingly bought the boat from a boat yard, as you do. Not a Volvo agent, which you dont tend to buy boats from. So warranty canceled by Volvo on first day. A lucky escape from Volvo extra special oil well oil and overpriced filteres.

Re: 2-year minimum waranty

Well that's pretty clear, then, innit? Your new boat from manufacturer X has an engine failure 18 months old. You contact the dealer, who is obliged under this to repair or replace the engine. He must do this, but claims against the boatbuilder. The boatbuilder claims against the engine manufacturer, who doubtless claims it was an installation problem. Doesn't matter, as boatbuilder and engine manufacturer slug it out between them.

BUT, what happens when the dealer you bought from goes belly up, claiming he can't afford to replace and then wait for the builder to refund him?

Is there a precedent for this yet? Why did Dom get so much crap - this legislation implies he should only have had to deal with the dealer/boatbuilder, and should never have had to talk to Volvo at all.

colin we are talking about engines. YOU never came with a warranty ;-)
when they made you they broke the mould and they sacked the mould maker

Come on brain.get this over and i can go back to killing you with beer

Ah! I see now!

Anyway what diference does it make, they tried to weedle their way out of every warranty claim anyway, blame anybody but there own crappy engineering. The warranty wasn't worth a bucket full of cold piss!

bucket full of cold piss

hahahaha i am still laughing at that one

actually i own a v~vo car and my engine blew up
a couple of weeks before i took it to the dealers and they had a listen and said it was ok the tappetts sounded loose but it was better loose than too tight
