No strong N or E winds against tides.
Chap who moors next to me goes out frequently with day trippers and work parties.
Not always possible for even him to land passengers due to swell.
Big plans afoot to do stuff regards forts and all a bit hush hush.

If you look carefully you can still see the names of the pirate radio stations painted on side of forts.

Bit of unhappy event out there last year when two people landed and failed to make boat secure, boat drifted off and one of the people possibly tried to swim after it with fatal results. Not sure how they gained access to fort as the restorers have gone to considerable trouble to prevent unauthorised boarding with security gates and padlocks.

Thanks for all the replies, looking at the weather for the next week or so may mess up my cunning plans!

Not sure how familiar you are with area but a trip round Sheppey can make a good day out.Normally would go into Swale from the west on rising tide through to Faversham, head out to forts and return back on the outside vis Sheerness.
If you have not been into Swale before stick to the bouyed channel like glue.
A quick look on Google Earth will reveal all.:)
Conyer Creek and Faversham Creek make good summer challenges for a weekend trip

Except for that barsteward bridge keeper at the Kingsferry bridge who seems to delight in keeping you waiting for no reason whatsoever.

We always try to arrange things so that we can get under without "troubling" the British Rail bridge operator.
Coming back from Faversham to get under bridge normally involves leaving a groove in the mud at top of creek and then getting a move on...we normally have at least an inch or two going under :)

Well finally got out to them today, foggy with roughly 2/300 yard visibility and was bloody cold!
Stop engines in the fog really hard to work out which way is which:D

Spot on.
Some friends and I had a few weekends away on it. At that time it was moored at Upnor.
I don't know much about the boat's history or where it is now, but we certainly had some fun aboard it. I may have another couple of pictures if anyone is interested.

Is that the original Arethusa? the one the bow figure in the village belongs to!
I ask as my father in law trained on it when it was a borstal (i think) ship.
