I didn't say he ran it on parafin.

What I said was that the oil I buy for my central heating is 28 sec, thats what it says on the bill, and the the stuff is parafin, its not Diesel. feels different and smells different, and man who delivers it says its parafin.

From reading previous posts it seemed very unclear exactly what your mate was using, my thought was that if he runs a Diesel engine on parafin he is likely to damage expensive bits of the engine cos parafin does not lubricate stuff like Diesel does.

No! it is Gas Oil according to the delivery note.
This I believe is some sort of diesel. In terms of engine damage, another acquaintance has now burned 13000 litres of gas oil in his newish 4X4.
This topic is getting too hot and should be terminated!

My bill says 28 sec burning oil (now theres a new term)

Don't really care what it is or what its called the damned stuff is too expensive. So will agree to call it quits.

I was tempted to say the reason the topic was getting too hot was because of burning the wrong fuel, but perhaps better I don't say that.

Graham,

When he tells you this does his face turn red /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

I know what my engine would prefer but its not to my pockets choice.

Trevor.

Returned from 3 months away, I had bought a least 4 tankful of diesel for the boat on the continent tax paid. Now if I drained the boat tank and used it in the car it would be stained red but I HAVE bought some700ltrs tax paid. I would only be transferring 70ltrs. Now what is the difference from driving through France and filling up before returning in the car.

I did not do it as I can't stand the hassle but what would I have been doing wrong if I transfered 70ltrs of some 700 ltrs of diesel bought in France to my car except inevitably there would be some red dye left in it.
