Red lead

A friend here (in Melilla) requires a small quantity of red lead and his son, who lives in Brighton, is coming here soon and could bring it with him. (I know, I know. Carrying such things on planes. Tsk!)
The question is, does anyone know of a source for red lead in the Brighton area?

Not to sure about this.
If you get the red led as powder and pack it securely in your hold luggage put it in the packages that you can put 35mm films in I think they are lead foil envelopes.
Then at the end of the day just mix up with standard linseed putty would that get round any problems.
I can not see red lead powder being problem in your hold luggage.

Its a disgrace that such a question has to be asked,the EEC with its commitee rules and lately the lack of real peoples representatives Tar was banned by accident of stupidity admited by the Swedish europeana M.P

Soon our "elected"EuroMPs" will still be arriving ing Mercadies 500s which do 12MPG while our "leaders" speping out of them will ban large cars that use more than 40mpg and do more than 100mph(their mercs can reach 320kmh)

Whats going on? will my 1959 landrover be banned?While their mercadies 500s arnt?

Will my 6 or 8 hp 2 stroke be banned while the MEPs drive 560hp cars with aircon and auto???????

I totally agree with you about cars. In Richmond England they will tax people with big engine cars just for parking outside their house. A parked big engine car does no more environmental damage than a parked small one. Many big cars only do about 8k miles per annum yet the smaller ones are doing 20k+, in reality causing more damage to the environment.

Tax by mileage would obviously cover this, but the insipid dregs from the septic tank that pose as our administration and think up these rules don’t want you to have a big car and they hide behind the environment.

Don't get the anti EU rant here, Red lead is a hazardouse substance because it is highly toxic. I powder form, if spilt, it becomes airbourn and can be breathed in. It is not soluble in water so is a sod to clean up and anyway having a plane on the ground while you decontaminate the hold before you workforce can safely go back in is inconvinient and expensive. I would imagion they would be VERY upset if you stffed some, unlabled, into a film bag. Warning signs on tine tend to be there for good reason. Handled corectly and packaged properly it is not a problem so why not just ask the airline if you can take a sealed tin.

I was not suggesting trying to deceive. The tins of red lead powder I have are plainly marked. Putting it in to a sealed film bag was a secondary precaution and obversely it should be marked up on the out side stating clearly the contents.

Hi idont think you can get red lead anymore,Hemple paints do a good substute looks exactly the same,and goes on like a dream,and dries in about 15 mins>on our ship we use gallons(sorry litres)of the stuff,put onto bare metal then two good hemple undercoats and a coat of gloss,looks good as new,and nobody would know the differance.Hemple paints should have an outlet in your area.

Not Brighton, but this supplier will do mail order. Have bought a few things from him in the past, and he is excellent to deal with.

Intrigued by applying red lead (substitute) to hulls - do you meen their metal primer 12050 (similar to red oxide paint) or something else???
