I keep petrol for my outboard in a 25l red plastic fuel tank, lashed permanently on the cockpit seat. It was stored in the cockpit locker, but surveyor noted that the cockpit locker drained into the bilges. My cockpit has a well for an outboard, so is completely self draining.
Question is, will the plastic container deteriorate with weather / UV? Anything better? Or replace it after a period? Can it survive the winter there? I assume petrol will not freeze?
