Diesel used is marine / agricultural Diesel which carries (at the moment) a lower rate of duty (not classed as a road fuel) and vat as does aviation fuel.

In reality road fuel should come DOWN in price but we have a money grabbing little sh!t in power so not much chance of that happening.

They Don't. Road users get expensive fuel.

Road diesel has road transport duty and VAT. Boat, Aviation, Farm etc etc fuel has VAT only.
The chancellor actually spent most of last night speaking about how he was not going to tolerate european Tax harmonisation, that its basically flawed etc. etc.
Kinda forgot to mention that when it came to 'harmonizing' tax on diesel the ink wasn't even dry when he adopted it.
At the end of the day its just another in a long line of taxes, sure it can be dressed up with some bad science and incorrect stats as having some environmental effect (or is congestion the current flavour of the month to justify fuel tax? - might work in the solent /forums/images/icons/wink.gif ), but its still a tax.
